In honor of this week's limited run for her directorial effort "W.E." this weekend, Indiewire decided to take a trip down Madonna memory lane, counting down her best-performing films at the box office.

While the singer-dancer-actress-filmmaker is not generally revered for her film work, she's perhaps gotten a bad rap.  A simple look at her acting resume makes it clear that for every "Body of Evidence" or "The Next Best Thing," there's an "Evita" or "A League of Their Own."

Her five best films -- "Evita," "League," "Dick Tracy," "Desperately Seeking Susan" and doc "Truth or Dare" -- are also her highest grossing. Perhaps most impressive of all is "Dare" (directed by her "W.E." co-writer Alek Keshishian), which grossed a stunning $28.3 million when one adjusts for inflation (making it one of the highest-grossing documentaries of all time).

Not included are the likes of "Shanghai Surprise" and "Swept Away," largely considered Madonna's two greatest financial disasters (and both of which she made with her respective husbands at the time). The former grossed $2.3 million in 1986, while the latter managed just $598,645 in the fall of 2002.

Here's her top ten:
