Canadian distributor Kinosmith, Inc. is teaming with Hot Docs for a DVD distribution partnership called "The Hot Docs Collection," featuring popular festival films and other titles chosen by the festival's programmers. The collection will debut July 28 with the release of digital rights polemic "RIP: A Remix Manifesto" and "FLicKeR," , the tale of a mind-expanding pulsating-light device that was embraced by a generation of pop-culture consciousness pioneers from William Burroughs to Iggy Pop.
Films will be available for purchase on the Kinosmith website, and a portion of the revenue will go to Hot Docs' education programs.
"The Hot Docs Collection is at once an exciting new endeavour for us," commented Hot Docs Director of Programming Sean Farnel in a statement. "And an extension of our commitment to growing the audience for documentary. We're heartened that Kinosmith's passion for docs aligns with our own."
