The promised sequel to the cult sensation "The Human Centipede (First Sequence)," "The Human Centipede Part 2 (Full Sequence)," will make its way to North American audiences via IFC Films' Midnight label in 2011. Director Tom Six's second "Centipede" outing has just wrapped shooting in London, and the story is being kept under wraps. Unlike the first installment, which purported being '100% medically accurate,' the sequel boasts the tagline, '100% medically inaccurate.'
"First Sequence" made headlines upon its release this spring for its cringe inducing plot that centered on a mad German doctor intent on creating the first 'human centipede' by surgically joining his captured victims together. The film was one of IFC's biggest-on-demand successes of all time, and sold out midnight screening nationwide.
"I like to say part one is like 'My Little Pony' compared to the film we are editing now, said Six. "IFC Films has been such an incredible partner… I can only hope that they won’t be so disgusted that they try to get out of this new deal."
According to what Jonathan Sehring, President of IFC Films said, Six should have no reason to worry. "We couldn’t wait for the opportunity to work with Tom Six again, who is clearly a master of his trade," said Sehring. "IFC Films had so much fun with the release of "First Sequence," we loved watching audiences squirm in their seats as the film set a new standard in the horror genre. We are thrilled to be bringing the horrifying experience of "Full Sequence" to American audiences through our theatrical and VOD platforms. We look forward to 'connecting' this film to an even bigger audience."
The "Full Sequence" deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, SVP of Acquisitions and Co-Productions for IFC Films and Jeff Deutchman, Manager of Acquisitions & Productions, for IFC Films with Ilona Six, producer Six Entertainment negotiating on behalf of the filmmakers.
