IFC Center Sets Spring Slate

New York’s IFC Center has announced its slate through June, 2009. Nine theatrical U.S. premieres are included in the batch, from Olivier Assayas’ “Summer Hours” to Jia Zhang-ke’s “24 City” to Academy Award nominee “Revanche.” The full schedule of theatrical engagements is below, for more information and schedules of special presentations, visit the IFC Center’s website. IFC Center Theatrical Engagements (Note that opening dates are subject to change; Synopses courtesy of IFC Center) Friday, April 17-Thursday, April 30: LEMON TREE Directed by Eran Riklis, starring Hiam Abass (Israeli Academy Award for Best Actress; The Visitor) When her family’s lemon grove is condemned as a security threat by the Israeli Defense Forces, a Palestinian widow fights back in this quietly powerful drama that took the Audience Award at the Berlin and San Sebastian Film Festivals. Friday, April 24-Thursday, April 30: THROW DOWN YOUR HEART Directed by Sascha Paladino, starring Bela Fleck Award-winning musician Bela Fleck sets off to discover the forgotten African roots of the banjo.
