Sundance teen drama "Dare" has been acquired by Image Entertainment. The film, written and co-produced by David Brind and directed by Adam Salky, stars Emmy Rossum, Zach Gilford, and Ashley Springer as high school students that enter into an unusual triangle of friendship and love. The film also stars Ana Gasteyer, Sandra Bernhard, and Alan Cumming.
On the deal, Garrett M. Lee, Image’s Senior Vice President, Theatrical said, in a statement, “Audiences will identify with this 21st-century update of the John Hughes oeuvre, as it perfectly captures this generation with nothing to rebel against except their self-imposed inhibitions. This film continues our plans to build a portfolio of unique and entertaining films from great filmmakers."
The film was produced by Mary Jane Skalski of Next Wednesday and Jason Orans of Gigantic Pictures. The deal was negotiated by Image Entertainment's J. Beck and Cinetic Media's Sarah Lash.
