"My Brooklyn" follows the filmmaker’s journey, as a Brooklyn “gentrifier,” to understand the forces dramatically reshaping New York City.
"My Brooklyn" chronicles the dramatic changes that have occurred in Brooklyn over the past decade, and shows how they are not natural, but fueled by public policy. The film documents how an obsession with upscale environments driven by the Wall Street bubble, and more than 100 re-zonings by the Bloomberg administration, are destroying the racial and economic diversity and neighborhood character that have drawn generations to the borough and made it unique. This process has led to a fierce battle over the soul of the city, the themes of which resonate with urban communities across the county.
Director: Kelly Anderson

Associate Producer: Fivel Rothberg
About the Production:
I moved to Park Slope in 1988 because it was affordable, but also because I valued the diversity, activism and alternative culture thriving there. I've seen Brooklyn change a lot since then, and have wondered if there's a way to prevent that gentrification "tipping point" where a neighborhood becomes someplace you don't want to live anymore, or can't afford to. The film will re-frame the debate so that rather than blaming one another as individuals for neighborhood change, we can look at the conditions that produced today’s unequal landscape and work together to build a just, sustainable and diverse city.
In post production, fund-raising to hire an editor to finish the film.
