International Film Circuit to Release "Into Eternity"

Michael Madsen's feature film debut, the documentary "Into Eternity," is set to hit North American theaters thanks to International Film Circuit. The film will premiere for U.S. audiences at New York City's Film Forum on February 2nd, followed by a national rollout.

"Into Eternity" examines the issue of nuclear waste storage. The film was nominated for two Cinema Eye Honors and won the Green Screen Award at last year's IDFA in Amsterdam. The deal was negotiated by Wendy Lidell, President of the International Film Circuit, and the film's sales agent, Diana Holtzberg, Film Transit International's Vice President.

"'Into Eternity' raises one of the most important issues of our day in a way that is both less confrontational and more convincing than any mere work of advocacy journalism," Lidell said in a statement. "Anyone who sees this film will come away with a wholly changed perspective on nuclear power.  The phrase paradigm shift comes to mind."

INTO ETERNITY acquired for North America by International Film Circuit

NEW YORK, NY (JANUARY 18, 2011) – International Film Circuit announced today that it has acquired US and Canadian theatrical rights to INTO ETERNITY, a multiple award-winning documentary written and directed by Michael Madsen in his feature film debut.  INTO ETERNITY was nominated for two Cinema Eye Honors, and it won the 2010 Green Screen Award at Amsterdam’s IDFA, which many consider the world’s top-rated documentary film festival.

INTO ETERNITY was produced by Lise Lense-Møller of Magic Hour Films, producer of last year’s Academy Award-nominated BURMA VJ.  The new film is a startlingly beautiful and mind-bending provocation that asks the questions, “how can we possibly store nuclear waste safely for 100,000 years, and how will we explain to future generations not to open the storage facilities.”

The theatrical premiere of INTO ETERNITY is scheduled for February 2nd at New York City’s prestigious Film Forum, to be followed by a national rollout.  It is presently playing across the UK where it was released last November by Dogwoof Film Distribution.

“We are thrilled that INTO ETERNITY has been picked up by Wendy Lidell and International Film Circuit.  Having such a dedicated and experienced distributor means so much for this film at this time.  INTO ETERNITY really deserves to get a national audience in the US now since the nuclear waste issue has become very pressing after the end of the Yucca Mountain project.”

The deal was negotiated for International Film Circuit by Wendy Lidell, President, and Diana Holtzberg, Vice President of Films Transit International, the film’s world sales agent.  “International Film Circuit’s long track record with both sophisticated art films and social issue documentaries make them a perfect fit for handling an unusual project that appeals to audiences on both levels,” said Holtzberg.

“INTO ETERNITY raises one of the most important issues of our day in a way that is both less confrontational and more convincing than any mere work of advocacy journalism”, said Lidell, adding, “anyone who sees this film will come away with a wholly changed perspective on nuclear power.  The phrase paradigm shift comes to mind.”
