indieWIRE is on the scene in France at the 64th Festival de Cannes which just launched Wednesday, keeping iPOP busy with glam activity.
First up, the official competition jurors made their first appearance and answered to the international press is attendance. That same day, Bernardo Bertolucci picked up a well deserved honorary Palme d'Or and Woody Allen signed autographs for an adoring mob. The next morning saw an all-smiling Jane Campion take a seat in the audience for the "Sleeping Beauty" press conference. Later in the week Gus Van Sant was on hand to toast to his film "Restless, playing in the Un Certain Regard section.
