Documentary: alive and well in Krakow.

James Hopkins went to the Krakow Film Festival and came back reporting signs of life from the documentary film world. Hopkins wrapped up his coverage of the Polish festival by highlighting some of the standout documentaries that screened.

China invests on animation.

China is ready to compete with U.S. animated features. A new state-of-the-art, 190-acre facility near Beijing is designed to foster and develop the talent necessary for Chinese animation films to have a stronger presence at the domestic and foreign market. Animated films are poised to make a big leap in the box office as early as this year with "Legend of a Rabbit," China's answer to "Kung Fu Panda 2," reaching Chinese screens in June.

A "Hangover" hangover.

"The Hangover Part II" was a run-away success at the box office this weekend. The Los Angeles Times took the film's release as an opportunity to look at the peculiar nature of comedy sequels. The LAT considers the film a rehash more than anything, but is that the right way to go when making a sequel to a hit-comedy? Clearly, they haven't seen "Police Academy 3."


How'd that trailer get there?

A new trailerfor David Fincher's adaptation of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" leaked on YouTube over the weekend. The trailer has been generating an amount of buzzaround the internet, which led the New York Times to wonder -where did that trailer come from? Was it the work of piracy from someone at a movie theater? Or, as other suggest, a clever marketing technique from the studio?
