Indiewire By Indiewire | Indiewire August 18, 2008 at 5:25AM

Rights to Venice competition titles "Plastic City" by Yu Lik-wai and Marco Bechis' "Birdwatchers" have been picked up by Celluloid Dreams. Set in Liberdade, Sao Paulo, Brazil, "Plastic City" recounts a futuristic multi-ethnic neighbourhood with the largest Japanese immigrant community in the world. "Birdwatchers" revolves around the conflict between Brazil's landed wealthy and mostly landless natives who exist on the periphery. Both films join Takeshi Kitano’s "Achilles and the Tortoise" to make three films on Celluloid Dreams’ Venice festival slate. [Brian Brooks]
