The U.S. distribution rights to Christian Petzold's "Jerichow" have been acquired by The Cinema Guild. The film follows the paths of three people who stumble into a deadly encounter: "Thomas, a young soldier dishonorably discharged from the army; Ali, an affable Turkish businessman; and his wife, Laura, a beautiful woman hiding a dark secret." It premiered at the 2008 Venice Film Festival and was an official selection of the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival. The deal was negotiated by Ryan Krivoshey, Director of Distribution for The Cinema Guild with Michael Weber for The Match Factory. "Jerichow" will open theatrically in early 2009. [Peter Knegt]
