Fortissimo Films announced today it has acquired worldwide sales rights outside Mexico to Enrique Rivero's Parque Via. The film tells the story of an elderly man who cares for a luxury, empty house in Mexico, residing there until the day it is sold. The film won the Golden Leopard Award at this year's Locarno International Film Festival, and is scheduled to screen at the upcoming Tokyo, London and Vienna International Film Festivals. The deal was agreed between Fortissimo's Co-Chair Wouter Barendrecht and "Via" producer Paola Herrera. "We are very happy that 'Parque Via' is now part of the Fortissimo slate," said Herrera in a statement. "It deserves the very best in bringing it to an international audience. With Fortissimo we are standing on solid ground. They have all the tools needed to internationalize the film." [Peter Knegt]
