The 11th Latinbeat, running at the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater, has announced Esteban Schroeder's "Kill Them All" as their opening night film. Based on real events, "Kill Them All" follows an Uruguayan human rights prosecutor who has to look into her own family's role in Uryguay's military past whan a notorious Chilean biochemical engineer is kidnapped. The film will screen on Friday, September 5, 2008, leading into a newly expanded nine day schedule of Latinbeat. The 2008 edition will highlight 28 films from ten Latin American countries, with sidebars focusing on Chile, Brazil and Puerto Rico, including the New York premiere of the latest film by Jacobo Morales, "Angel."
