Jeff Nichols' directorial debut "Shotgun Stories" has been acquired by Upload Films and Liberation Entertainment, the companies announced recently. The film, produced by "George Washington" director David Gordon Green and collaborator Lisa Muskat, will be released theatrically in early 2008, followed by a DVD release next summer. The film tracks a feud that erupts between two sets of half brothers following the death of their father. Set against the cotton fields and back roads of Southeast Arkansas, these brothers discover the lengths to which each will go to protect their family. After debuting earlier this year at the Berlin International Film Festival, the film went on to win prizes at the Seattle and Austin film festivals. [Brian Brooks]
