Ealing Studios announced today that they have sold the German and Benelux rights to the British comedy "St. Trinian's," which will be produced and directed by Oliver Parker ("The Importance of Being Earnest") and Barnaby Thompson ("An Ideal Husband.") The story about schoolgirls who attempt to pull off a heist to save their school for 'young ladies' is newly set to star Mischa Barton (TV's "The O.C."), joining the ranks of others such as Rupert Everett and Colin Firth. The film has already commenced with principal photography on location in and around London and is the first of three films, including "From Time to Time" and "I Want Candy," brought to Cannes by the company in its first year as a fully integrated studio and international sales company. International sales are handled by Ealing Studios International's head of sales Natalie Brenner. [Ashley Adams]
