"Sicko" director Michael Moore will receive the International Documentary Association's Career Achievement Award during its gala benefit on December 7 at the Directors Guild of America Theatre, the organization announced. "Michael Moore still has many more extraordinary films ahead of him," commentedIDA president Diane Estelle Vicari in a statement. "Our members are thankful for his fearless commitment to tell compelling stories. He is a role model for young documentary filmmakers everywhere in the world." IDA was founded 25 years ago to "promote and celebrate nonfiction filmmakers." The non-profit is based in Los Angeles. [Brian Brooks]
