Sony Pictures Classics is planning a theatrical release pegged to the '09 baseball season for Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden's "Sugar. The company formally announced today the deal for North American and Latin American Distribution rights to the HBO film, which debuted in competition at this year's Sundance Film Festival. It was produced by Paul Mezey, Jamie Patricof, and Jeremy Kipp; William Morris' Rena Ronson brokered the pact. [Eugene Hernandez]
