The Toronto International Film Festival appointed two new programmers for 2008. Film critic, author, journalist and Concordia University professor Matthew Hays has been announced as the Canadian feature programmer, while film curator Kathleen Mullen has been named Short Cuts Canada programmer. Hays has been the film critic for the Montreal Mirror since 1993 and has written for a broad range of publications, including The New York Times, The Guardian, The Advocate and The Hollywood Reporter. Mullen has programmed numerous festivals and film centres, including Provincetown International Film Festival, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts Film Program, and the Vancouver International Film Festival.
