Visit Films has announced its worldwide acquisition of Toronto International Film Festival title “Adela.” Screening it Toronto’s Contemporary World Cinema section, the film is directed by Filipino Adolfo Alix Jr.. It tells the story of a former radio personality who is celebrating her 80th birthday in the slums of Manila. “This film marks a significant move forward for Visit,” said Visit Films partner Sylvain Tron in a statement. “We have acquired a top tier international project from a director whose first film was the Filipino entry for the Academy Awards Foreign Language category.
