The Weinstein Company is launching a new distribution label, dubbed Third Rail Releasing. While not a genre label, the banner will release edgier fare by maverick filmmakers, debuting with the upcoming release of George A Romero's "Diary of the Dead." Output is expected to hit 6 - 10 films per year. The banner is being formed in conjunction with TWC home video arm partner, Genius Products, and is the first in a series of moves by the company -- in the wake of the recent hiring of new COO Lee Solomon -- aimed at developing new opportunities for TWC's units.
