Easternlight has sold the North American rights for its Hong Kong martial arts film "Fatal Contact" to The Weinstein Company. It was jointly announced at Cannes today by Ying Ye, Director of Easternlight Films and Gary Hamilton, Managing Director for parent company Arclight Films. Ye and Hamilton also announced that French distributor Metropolitan had bought rights for France and Tiberius rights for Germany.

The Weinstein Company also recently took North American, UK and Australian rights to Easternlight's thriller "Nightmare Detective," by cult director Shinya Tsukamoto. Easternlight is also selling $20 million martial arts epic "Three Kingdoms" during Cannes. [Peter Knegt/indieWIRE]
