Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

"Top Spin"

Tweetable Logline:

With their sights set on the 2012 London Olympics, two competitive teens take ping pong out from the basement and onto center stage.

Elevator Pitch:

Imagine the smell of fresh rubber paddles, plastic balls whirling by at 80 mph, exclamations of victory interrupted by cries of defeat: this is ping pong like you’ve never seen it. Top Spin offers intimate access to table tennis phenoms, Ariel Hsing and Michael Landers. The film follows Ariel and Michael as they try out for the Olympics while also juggling their last years of high school. Amidst the training, SATs and college applications loom over their heads with the question arising: with no professional table tennis outlet in the U.S., what does the future hold for them?

Production Team:

Co-director/Producer: Mina T. Son
Co-director/Editor: Sara Newens
Executive Producer: Jamie Meltzer ("Off the Charts: The Song-Poem Story," "La Caminata")
Cinematographers: Sara Newens, Mina T. Son

About the Production:

"Everyone knows ping pong is fun but few understand the hard work and sacrifice it takes to become a champion in the sport. Being the huge sports fans we are, we couldn't help getting sucked into the world competitive table tennis. But we were especially drawn to Ariel and Michael's level of dedication. That they could be so disciplined and focused at just 16 and 17 years old is astounding. We can't wait to see how far they'll go!" -- Mina T. Son

Current Status:

The film is currently in production until late 2012.
