Elevator Ptich:
"Nate & Margaret" is an independent feature film loosely based on true experiences I (Nate) had when I was 19 and in college. I was starting to become comfortable in my own skin (as gay and wanting to be a filmmaker) and beginning to build self-confidence and start to date. Nate is best friends with Margaret, a 52-year-old spinster addicted to collecting coffee mugs and aspires to be a successful stand-up comedian. Margaret's act is all about how she despises relationships. When Nate gets his first boyfriend, it challenges their friendship.
Production Team:
Director/Co-Writer/Producer: Nathan Adloff (Actor, "Blackmail Boys")
Co-Writer: Justin D.M. Palmer
Producer: Ash Christian (Director, "Fat Girls," "Mangus!," "Petunia")
Executive Producers: Brian Baker, Charles Solomon Jr.
Cinematographer/Editor: Brian Levin (Cinematographer, "Cyrus")
Cast: Natalie West, Tyler Ross, Conor McCahill & Gaby Hoffmann
About the Production:
"I am inspired by true stories about myself in college. I began studying filmmaking, as well as making poor decision after poor decision on the guys I chose to date. Margaret is inspired by my co-writer, Justin Palmer. Justin has always had a burning desire to try stand-up comedy, but is terrified of bombing on stage. We get to see Margaret attempt and fail a lot. Nate and Margaret are best friends. We wanted to make a film about two people who, despite their numerous differences (age, sexual orientation, perspective on relationships, etc.), remain loyal and supportive of each other." -- Nathan Adloff
Current Status:
In post-production.
