Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

"Man-child"

Tweetable Logline:

A talented basketball player gets ranked nationally and must choose between schools, coaches, and faiths -- all at the age of 13.

Elevator Pitch:

An amateur video of 13 year-old Terran "TJ" Jackson playing basketball hits the internet and turns his life upside down. TJ is soon nationally ranked among other 7th graders and declared to be "the next Dwayne Wade" despite being in middle school. With his newfound fame, he must choose between educational institutes, father figures, and belief systems. A few years from now TJ could be a millionaire, but right now all he has is basketball. It’s a lot for anyone to handle -- much less a 13 year-old.

Production Team:

Writer/Director: Ryan Koo

About the Production:

"This story follows kids for whom the sky is the limit, but more often than not they have very little in their lives right now. And the fact is that the vast majority of talented teenagers will never make it as professional athletes, but it’s more than just a matter of athleticism: it comes down to the decisions they make. These are decisions that few of us have ever had to face, much less at a young age. That's why I find the world of youth basketball to be so interesting from a dramatist’s perspective: big decisions for little kids."

Current Status:

Pre-production, meeting with producers at Independent Film Week and being a part of the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Emerging Visions program.
