"Django Unchained" star Jamie Foxx will be taking a spin behind the camera for Syfy. The network announced that the Oscar-winning actor will be executive producing, writing and directing an at the moment untitled five-episode horror anthology that will air this fall.

This isn't Foxx's first attempt at the genre -- he was an executive producer on and directed an episode of "Nite Tales," an attempt at an urban horror series adapted from a 2008 TV movie hosted by Flavor Flav (how far the project got isn't entirely clear).

This new series comes through Foxx's Foxxhole Productions and Universal Cable, and will be morality tales in the vein of "The Twilight Zone" and "Tales from the Crypt." Episodes will run a half-hour and will premiere during Syfy's annual 31 Days of Halloween programming marathon in October.

"This is a project that I've wanted to do for a long time and I'm so happy to see it come to life," said Foxx. "Get ready to lose it when some special friends and I bring the scares this October, and who knows... maybe I'll make a guest appearance or two along the way!"

TV comedy vet Troy Miller ("Flight of the Conchords," "Arrested Development") will serve as executive producer through his production company Dakota Pictures. Joining Foxx to write the series are Mike Ferris ("Terminator Salvation") and John Pogue ("Army Wives," "Everwood"). Jeff Stilson, Jaime King and Julie Yorn will also serve as EPs.
