- Jeff Deutchman, who was promoted to SVP of acquisitions and productions for troubled distributor Alchemy back in October of last year, is no longer with the company as of Thursday. In an short email sent around to friends and colleagues yesterday, Deutchman announced his departure, but gave no further information about his next move. Deutchman joined Alchemy as Vice President of Acquisitions in November 2014 when it was still Millennium Entertainment. He joined Millennium Entertainment from Paramount Home Media where he served as Director of Acquisitions. Prior to Paramount Home Media, Deutchman worked in acquisitions for IFC Films.
- Variety reports that Dreamworks Animation has appointed marketing veteran Terry Curtin as head of theatrical publicity. On April 11, she will move over from upstart STX Entertainment, where as head of strategic marketing and global communications she helped to open "The Gift" and was set to launch recent pickup “Hardcore Henry." Curtin has worked in publicity at Relativity Media, Joe Roth's Revolution Studios, Universal, 20th Century Fox and Disney. She replaces Robin Chandler, head of theatrical publicity, who will serve as a consultant going forward.
- Variety also reports that Bob Pilon joins Participant Media as executive vice president, Social Impact. Pilon most recently was chief development officer for The ONE Campaign, and will report to CEO David Linde and COO Sam Neswick. Pilon will spearhead social action campaigns for Participant’s content, working with nonprofit and public and private sector partners to advance causes that are aligned with Participant’s mission.
