Jersey Launching Specialty Production Company; First Look Deal in Place With October Films

Another dozen films aimed at the specialty market will wash up on theatrical soil over the next three years through Jersey Shore, a new production company being created by Jersey Films. The new venture has signed a three year first look arrangement with October Films, mirroring Jersey Films first look deal with October’s parent, Universal.

Jersey Shore will be headed by Jonathan Weisgal, the former Fine Line Features Exec. V.P., and produce pictures in the $10 million range according to a company spokesperson. Weisgal is a full partner in Jersey Shore, along with Jersey Films’ Danny DeVito, Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher. The new company will be based in New York City, but will also maintain executives on both coasts.

According to the terms of the arrangement, October will retain worldwide rights to venture projects, with international rights being sold by October Film International and its arrangement with Good Machine International.
