"The Grey" filmmaker Joe Carnahan has been doing some high-profile TV directing this year, having helmed both the pilots for NBC's upcoming James Spader drama "The Blacklist," one of the buzziest shows of the 2013-2014 network season, and A&E's Chloƫ Sevigny crime drama "Those Who Kill," a remake of a Danish series. Now he's on his way to having a show of his own. Deadline reports that Carnahan and writer Chad Feehan ("Southland") have sold their bull riding drama project "Blood, Sweat & Tears" to A&E.

"The Grey" filmmaker Joe Carnahan has been doing some high-profile TV directing this year, having helmed both the pilots for NBC's upcoming James Spader drama "The Blacklist," one of the buzziest shows of the 2013-2014 network season, and A&E's Chloë Sevigny crime drama "Those Who Kill," a remake of a Danish series. Now he's on his way to having a show of his own. Deadline reports that Carnahan and writer Chad Feehan ("Southland") have sold their bull riding drama project "Blood, Sweat & Tears" to A&E.

Set in Texas in the world of amateur bull riding, "Blood, Sweat & Tears" is being written and co-executive produced by Feehan, with Carnahan directing and executive producing alongside Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman. The project comes from CBS TV Studios and Timberman-Beverly Productions.

A&E's big scripted venture this year was "Bates Motel," the Carlton Cuse-produced "prequel" to "Psycho" that could pick up some Emmy nods, though the network also has procedurals "The Glades" and "Longmire." Carnahan hasn't shifted all of his attention to the small screen -- he's also working on comedy/thriller "Stretch," which has Patrick Wilson slated to star.
