Canadian distributor Kinosmith has just announced a unique distribution partnership with the prestigious Hot Docs Film Festival. The partnership, The Hot Docs Collection, will feature popular titles form the festival's and other titles chosen by the programmers. Kinosmith will donate a portion of the revenue of the sale from The Hot Docs Collection to the festival's educational programs.
Kinosmith President Robin Smith says, “Kinosmith has been aggressively promoting thought-provoking films in the marketplace since its inception - some 63 feature films in its first 19 months. And as anyone knows, true stories are invariably the most outrageous of all. Hot Docs’ documentaries routinely tell stories Hollywood wouldn’t touch.”
The series will kick off with the July 28 Canadian release of "Rip: A Remix Manifesto" and "FLicKeR." Other films to be released in the series include "Burma VJ," "When We Were Boys," and "Prom Night in Mississippi."
