The New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF) will kick off its 10th anniversary on July 28 with Peter Bratt’s “La Mission.” The film, which premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, is the story of an ex-con and recovering alcoholic whose violent, homophobic outlook is challenged through his relationship with his son and a woman. Check out indieWIRE’s interview with Bratt here. “We are very excited to celebrate our 10th Anniversary,” said Calixto Chinchilla, Executive Director, in a statment. “The NYILFF began as a dream project to showcase Latino filmmakers and we’ve grown in size and stature, along with our community.” The NYILFF, presented by HBO, will run until August 2.
