by indieWIRE

Bob and Harvey Weinstein announced Tuesday that Charles Layton has been
hired as the Executive Vice President, Office of the Chairman, of Miramax.
Beginning in January, his "wide range" of duties will focus on production,
acquisitions, and corporate strategy. Until then he will work as a
consultant to the company. "Charles will be a tremendous asset," stated
Harvey Weinstein in a prepared statement, "obviously professionally but
also personally, as I will now have more time to devote to creative areas."

Seven years ago, Layton was Miramax's Executive Vice President of
Production and Acquisitions where he worked to bring such pictures as
"Cinema Paradiso" to the company. Afterwards, Layton worked with Michael
Douglas at Stonebridge Entertainment before serving as COO of
Douglas-Reuther, Douglas' Paramount Pictures-based company responsible for
"The Ghost and The Darkness", "Face Off", and Francis Ford Coppola's upcoming
"The Rainmaker".
