Magnolia Pictures Will Release Cannes Winner 'Force Majeure'

After being awarded with the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at this month's Cannes Film Festival, Ruben Ostlund's fourth feature "Force Majeure" has been acquired by Magnolia Pictures for its U.S. distribution. "Force Majeure" focuses on events that are set off by an avalanche scare at a ski resort.

After being awarded with the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at this month's Cannes Film Festival, Ruben Ostlund's fourth feature "Force Majeure" has been acquired by Magnolia Pictures for its U.S. distribution. "Force Majeure" focuses on events that are set off by an avalanche scare at a ski resort.

The film stars Johannes Bah Kuhnke, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Clara Wettergren, Vincent Wettergren, Kristofer Hivju and Fanni Metelius, and was written by Ostlund. 

The deal was negotiated for Magnolia by John Von Thaden and Dori Begley with Olimpia Pont Chafer for Coproduction Office.
