Following last week's kickoff to the 40th edition of the Museum of Modern Art and the Film Society of the Lincoln Center’s New Directors/New Films festival, indieWIRE unleashes two additions to our annual 'Meet the ND/NF Filmmakers' series.

Today Sameh Zoabi discusses making his feature debut "Man Without a Cell Phone" and Deron Albright opens up about his policier thriller, "The Destiny of Lesser Animals."

The 2011 ND/NF runs March 23 - April 3. Click here for the full ND/NF lineup.

A snapshot of Monday's two filmmaker interviews:

Sameh Zoabi's feature directorial debut follows college dropout Jawdat, who stays busy by chatting up women on his cell phone. When his wireless flirting starts to extend into the West Bank, the Israeli authorities take notice. "My approach to filmmaking is undoubtedly influenced by my international life experience, where I was able to explore the different cinematic schools of the Middle East, Europe and the United States," Zoabi told indieWIRE. "Although my work thus far has been specific in terms of setting and topic, as it deals with my background as a Palestinian who lives in Israel, my films have been perceived with universal appeal. “Man Without a Cell Phone” is an evident example. The script was inspired by my upbringing, written in New York, financed in Europe and shot in the Middle East."

In Deron Alright's "The Destiny of Lesser Animals" a Ghanian Police Inspector embarks on a dangerous journey to retrieve his counterfeit passport to gain admittance into America. "In all seriousness, it is hard to speak of any part of this project that wasn’t a significant challenge," Alright said about making the film. "And there are certainly enough stories to fill hours of conversation. But what I did have was a core group of people who believed in the project and – I think – believed in me. Our numbers were so small, that everyone had to come through."
