Veteran journalist Michael Schneider has joined Indiewire to oversee its television coverage as Executive Editor in Los Angeles.
Formerly Chief Content Officer and Editor in Chief at TV Guide, Schneider will focus on growing Indiewire’s TV section to help greatly expand its coverage of the industry, including breaking news stories, in-depth reports, features and commentary on all aspects of television – from the executive suite to Emmys to programming. He will also serve as Editor at Large at Variety, Indiewire’s sister company.
At Indiewire, Schneider will oversee a growing television team who includes TV Editor Liz Shannon Miller and TV Critic Ben Travers, both based in Los Angeles.
Schneider will report to Indiewire’s editor in chief Dana Harris along with Deputy Editor and Chief Critic Eric Kohn, Editor at Large Anne Thompson, and Digital Director William Earl.
Prior to his work at TV Guide, Schneider worked as TV editor for Variety and Daily Variety for 12 years. As a television expert, Schneider has appeared on ABC "World News Tonight" and "Primetime Live," NBC's "Today" show and "Dateline NBC," CBS' "Early Show," "Access Hollywood," E! News Daily, CNN, MSNBC, NPR and many other programs and outlets. He is also a regular contributor to KCRW, where he hosts "The Spin-Off," a podcast about the TV industry, and also appears on the Hollywood-focused radio program "The Business."
