Paramount Vantage has announced a deal to develop an upcoming film with Oscar-nominated "Capote" director Bennett Miller. The filmmaker, who first gained attention for his documentary "The Cruise," is on board to direct "The Immortalist," from a script by Dante Harper ("The Delicate Art of the Rifle"), and Brad Pitt's Plan B will produce the project at the company. While the specific details on the story were not revealed, the announcement indicated that the movie is, "a contemporary, character-driven drama set in the emerging world of life-extension." Miller added in a statement, "It's not a science-fiction film. It's a drama set in the very real world of those pursuing biological immortality," adding, "It's a pursuit that attracts some extremely brilliant, wealthy and influential people. It also attracts tragic figures. This story follows one such person on his disturbing foray into it." Vantage's EVP of production and acquisitions, Amy Israel and SVP of production and acquisitions Matt Brodlie overseeing for the studio. [Eugene Hernandez]
