Monterey Media Picks Up Canadian Aboriginal Revenge Film 'Rhymes for Young Ghouls' for U.S. Distribution

A breakout at the Toronto International Film Festival, Jeff Barnaby's acclaimed "Rhymes for Young Ghouls" was just acquired for U.S. distribution by Monterey Media.

Starring Devery Jacobs, "Rhymes for Young Ghouls" is a dark revenge drama set on a fictionalized Canadian Indian Reserve, where children are required to go to school or pay a hefty truancy tax. As the school more closely resembles Hell than anything else, 15-year old protagonist Aila avoids it by paying the tax, until her drug deal money stops coming and she is forced to submit.

Monterey Media plans for a prestigious American premiere in the fall, equipped with screenings in Washington, New York and Sante Fe. No other indication of a wide or VOD release date has been made at this point.
