Nantucket Announces First Audience Awards;
"Faith" and "Lexie" Win

by Mark Rabinowitz

The Nantucket Film Festival ended their third year with the presentation
of their first audience awards for both feature-length and short films.
"Blind Faith," written by Frank Military and directed by Ernest
Dickerson, took home the audience award for best feature, while Tim
Loane's "Dance, Lexie, Dance" picked up the short award.

"Faith," which played at both the San Francisco International and Human
Rights Watch International Film Festivals, is a drama centered around
how an African American family deals with the aftershock when one
of the younger members (Kadeem Hardison) is accused of killing a
white boy. While fighting for his nephew's life, John Williams (Courtney
B. Vance) has to come to grips with what it means to be a black man
in America. While, "Dance" tells the story of widower, Lexie, who is bringing
up his daughter Laura alone in Northern Ireland.
