Nantucket Ponies Up the Dough, Announces Dates

Funds raised at this year's Nantucket Film Festival/Nantucket Nectars
celebrity softball game were presented to two Nantucket schools on Monday,
November 3rd by festival co-founder and Executive Producer of the festival,
Jonathan Burkhart. The schools, Nantucket High School and the Nantucket New
School will split over $900 which will be used to enhance the schools'
creative writing and reading programs. The game's outstanding performers
included Jace Alexander, Dana Wheeler-Nicholson and Marla Maples. In
addition to the presentation of the funds, Burkhart announced that next
year's 3rd annual fest will take place from June 16-21, 1998, with
screenings again taking place at the Gaslight and Dreamland theaters, with
evening screenings being added at the larger Dreamland. The "Morning Coffee
With..." sessions will again take place at the Cambridge Street Cafe, and
the fest's daily panels, seminars and readings will also return.

[Submission deadline for the Tony Cox Screenwriting Award must be received
by March 20th. Film submissions will be accepted between January 1st and
