National Board of Review To Vote December 5th, After NYFCC

The National Board of Review announced today that this year's awards voting and announcement will take place on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. That's two days after the recently announced New York Film Critics Circle Awards, and three days after the calendar date the group announced last year. Historically, the NBR had been the first critics group to announce during awards season, but this will remain no longer the case.

The group also announced that Meredith Vieira will return to host the annual National Board of Review Awards Gala, taking place on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

“We are thrilled to have someone of Meredith’s caliber returning to host our Awards Gala for a third time,” said Annie Schulhof, NBR President, in a statement. “She was a tremendous addition as host of our 2010 and 2011 Galas and we look forward to working with her again this year.”

Last year, "Hugo" topped the groups' winners.

National Board of Review changes award ceremony from January 10, 2013, to January 8, 2013, because Academy announces Oscar nominations on January 10, 2013. If the NBR kept their award ceremony on January 10, it would have made their awards even more irrelevant.
