New Line In Fat Talks

New Line In Fat Talks

by Mark Rabinowitz and Eugene Hernandez

In a correspondence with indieWIRE on Friday Steve Elzer, Vice President
of Corporate Publicity for New Line Cinema, contradicted aspects of a Varietyreport that had famed Hong Kong action star Chow Yun Fat ("Hard Boiled", "The Killer") in early negotiations to star in a film for the studio entitled, "The Corrupter". Elzer confirmed that discussions are underway, but characterized them as "early talks," adding that there is "absolutely nothing close to a
deal." Elzer went on to dispel the trade publication's report that the film
is based on a true story, explaining that VARIETY's details on the storyline are inaccurate.

According to the Variety piece, the film is about a "a Gotham cop compromised
by some Chinese mobsters," and is set to be directed by James Foley
("Glengarry Glen Ross", "Who's That Girl").
