Nicole Kidman will be honored with the Cinema Vanguard Award at the 2011 Santa Barbara Film Festival. The Festival, which runs from January 27 to February 6, will give the prize to the Academy Award-winning actress at a special tribute held at the Arlington Theater on February 5, 2011.

Roger Durling, the festival's Executvie Director, commented on the news in a statement, "Honoring Nicole Kidman is so exciting for us here at SBIFF. Her work is immensely diverse and with this year’s heart-wrenching and brilliant performance in ‘Rabbit Hole’ - a project she helped develop as well - it is exactly who we should be celebrating with the 2011 Cinema Vanguard Award."

The Cinema Vanguard Award is given annually at the festival to, "an actor who has forged his/her own path - taking artistic risks and making a significant and unique contribution to film." Previous recipients of the award have included Vera Farmiga, Ryan Goslig, Peter Sarsgaard, Kristin Scott Thomas, Stanley Tucci and Christopher Waltz.
