"Old Joy" and "Clear Cut: The Story of Philomath, OR" Take Top Jury Prizes at Sarasota Film Festival

Kelly Reichardt's "Old Joy" and Peter Richardson's "Clear Cut: The Story of Philomath, OR" won the narrative feature competition and documentary feature competition respectively over the weekend at the Sarasota Film Festival in a gala presentation, which also honored Robert Altman, Robert Towne, Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy and producer Paula Wagner. Also taking special jury mentions were "The Death of Mr. Lazarescu" by Cristi Puiu in the narrative category and Gary Tarn's "Black Sun" in the doc section. Sarasota's 2006 Independent Visions Competition Award went to "Find Love" by Erica Dunton and a special jury prize for screenwriting went to "Somebodies" by director Hadjii.
