Oliver Stone's ambitious new biopic about the embattled Edward Snowden has been pushed from its original release date of May 13 to September 16, according a Hollywood Reporter exclusive. This is not the first time "Snowden" has been delayed, as it was originally scheduled for a holiday release last year.
"Snowden," starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the titular character, explores the inner workings of the NSA controversy-maker.
Shailene Woodley, Nicolas Cage, Melissa Leo and Zachary Quinto round out the star-studded cast. Between Stone's pedigree and "CitizenFour" becoming a critical darling a few years ago, there should still be plenty of interest in Stone's new take on the material.
