The presence of Oliver Stone at a festival opening all but guarantees a quoteworthy time. So the Zurich Film Festival clearly knew what they were getting when they invited the Academy Award-winning director to attend for a third time to kick off their eighth edition with the European premiere of his latest, "Savages."

Stone's follow-up to his mildly received "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" is a horny and violent blast that harkens back to the lurid thrills of "U-Turn" and "Natural Born Killers." The colorful thriller pairs Taylor Kitsch with Aaron Johnson as two young pot-growing titans who share one girlfriend, the gorgeous Ophelia (Blake Lively). When a Mexican cartel (led by a fierce and terrifying Salma Hayek) moves in on their territory and demands to partner with them, the two friends refuse. The cartel responds by kidnapping Ophelia.

"Savages" Universal
Despite "Savages" being one of his most commerical and least overtly political pictures in ages, the director didn't hold back from sharing his opinions on the War on Terror, the virtues of President Obama and what America needs to learn. He also had some choice words for Corine Mauch, the first female and openly gay person to be elected mayor of Zurich.

    You might as well say you supported Nancy Pelosi for all the help you were with Ron Paul's campaign. I'm sick of Hollywood having a bully pulpit & then treating it like a men's room toilet at Fire Island. Gonna vote for Obomb'em now? WOW! that really syncs with supporting Ron Paul. I guess you really do have shit for brains.

    Oliver stone thinks The Drug War is a "Farce" and hates the fact that this Govt endorsed torture but he's going to support Obama for president??? Last I checked Obama has cracked down on medical marijuana more than Bush did. And as for the torture that hasn't stopped under Obama either. Guantanamo is still open and just look at recent pictures of Bradley Manning and tell me this man has been put through the ringer. It's sad that this private in the army did a good thing by blowing the whistle on the how badly these wars were really going but Obama wont lift a finger to help him and is fine with Manning rotting in jail.

    Stone and others need to stop pretending they care about torture the Drug war, and war in general because they wont vote the bums out who support these things because things like Gay marriage and abortion are more important than innocent families being bombed by U.S. drones and more important than people who's lives are being destroyed because they smoked a little pot and got caught.

    there are better choices people!! If you lean conservative Vote Gary Johnson if you lean to the left Jill Stein of the Green party. Both Johnson and Stein are Anti-war ,Anti-Drug war and pro civil liberties and when it comes to civil liberties Obama is worse than Bush. Both Johnson and Stein speak on the major issues not just the wedge issues that keep us dived. Wake up people Nothing will change if you vote for the 2 ring leaders to our 2 party dictatorship! The lesser of 2 evils is still evil.
