Sundance world dramatic competition film, "Once" by John Carney, has been acquired by Summit Entertainment in a deal that includes theatrical, video and television rights. The film sales company will sell worldwide rights, excluding Ireland, in conjunction with Dublin-based Samson Films, which produced the feature. "We have been tracking 'Once' for a while because its one of those unique treasures which appeals across all ages and genders--and we are thrilled to be working with the producers David Collins and Martina Niland on this Sundance crowd-pleaser," remarked Summit's David Garrett in a statement. "John Carney's sure hand and a lightness of touch brings great tenderness and warmth to the film, but there is also an incredible energy from the performances of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova whose music is the driving force of the movie."
