Anchor Bay Films bought "Touchback" starring Kurt Russell for North America. Anchor Bay acquisitions head Kevin Kasha calls the film "'The Blind Side' with a bit of 'It’s a Wonderful Life.” Written and directed by Don Handfield, "Touchback" has Scott Murphy (Brian Presley) as a struggling farmer who's still bitter about the high school football injury that killed his chance at going pro. One time travel later, he's back at the fateful game and with the counsel of his coach (Russell) struggles with making his decisions all over again. Pic also stars Melanie Lynskey, Christine Lahti, Drew Powell and Marc Blucas. Producers are Freedom Films’ Presley, Kevin Matusow and Carissa Buffel. Hannibal Classics is handling foreign sales. The deal was negotiated by Anchor Bay executive VP Kasha Films and Jay Cohen from Gersh LA.
