After about eight months at The Weinstein Company, Tom Ortenberg said tonight that he is leaving the company. The executive asked to be released from his contract, but did not detail the specific reason for his departure. He told indieWIRE tonight that he would have an additional announcement in the near future.
His last day at the company will be September 30th.
Ortenberg joined TWC in February as president of theatrical films, a newly created position handling all aspects of domestic theatrical releases, including acquisitions, distribution, marketing and publicity of theatrical motion pictures released by both the TWC and Dimension banners, Prior to the TWC post, Ortenberg was president of theatrical films for Lionsgate Entertainment for twelve years.
