The Wrap is reporting that less than a week after leaving The Weinstein Company, Tom Ortenberg has announced the launch of his own broad-based entertainment company, One Way Out Media.
"Based in Santa Monica, One Way Out Media will provide motion picture consulting services including marketing, distribution, publicity, awards season, production, acquisitions and third-party foreign sales, as well as financing for independent productions and acquisitions," The Wrap said.
After about eight months at The Weinstein Company, Tom Ortenberg left the company last week. The executive asked to be released from his contract, but at the time did not detail the specific reason for his departure. He told indieWIRE last week that he would have an additional announcement in the near future.
Ortenberg joined TWC in February as president of theatrical films, a newly created position handling all aspects of domestic theatrical releases, including acquisitions, distribution, marketing and publicity of theatrical motion pictures released by both the TWC and Dimension banners, Prior to the TWC post, Ortenberg was president of theatrical films for Lionsgate Entertainment for twelve years.
