Oscars Narrow Makeup Nominees to Seven

The Academy has announced the seven films still vying for a Best Makeup Oscar. While the gender-bending make-up of "Albert Nobbs" and the trippy expressionistic scenes of "Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life" both made the cut, the aging makeup of "J. Edgar" and the superheroes of "Green Lantern" were left out of the fray.

The Academy has announced the seven films still vying for a Best Makeup Oscar.  While the gender-bending make-up of "Albert Nobbs" and the trippy expressionistic scenes of "Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life" both made the cut, the 
aging makeup of "J. Edgar" and the superheroes of "Green Lantern" were left out of the fray.
 
Our resident Oscar expert Peter Knegt has predicted "The Iron Lady," "Hugo," and "Anonymous" as this year's three nomineees.
 
The Makeup branch will vote on the shortlisted films on January 21, and the three nominees will be revealed at the nominee announcement January 24.  The Oscar ceremony will occur February 26.
 
The following seven films have made it to the shortlist.
 
  • "Albert Nobbs"
  • "Anonymous"
  • "The Artist"
  • "Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life"
  • "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2"
  • "Hugo"
  • "The Iron Lady"
