REVIEW | "Moneyball" Leaves the Math On the Bench and Hits a Triple

Brad Pitt will receive the Palm Springs International Film Festival's Desert Palm Achievement Actor Award for his acclaimed performances in "Moneyball" and "The Tree of Life."

Pitt now joins the previously announced honorees George Clooney ("The Descendants"), Glenn Close ("Albert Nobbs"), Michel Hazanavicius ("The Artist"), Octavia Spencer ("The Help") and Michelle Williams ("My Week With Marilyn").

It's been a good year for Pitt. The New York Critics Circle named him Best Actor for both "Moneyball" and "The Tree of Life," and the Boston Society of Film Critics named him Best Actor for "Moneyball."

Pitt will receive the Palm Springs award at the Festival's Awards Gala on Jan. 7. The festival runs Jan. 5-16.
